Although it was through the aid of her
older brother Eric that Roberts landed her first acting role, she had to stand in line
with over 100 other women to audition for the part of Daisy in the hit sleeper Mystic
Pizza. After winning
that memorable role, she was reluctantly pulled into the spotlight, where she was forced
to battle her own insecurities under the prying eyes of the paparazzi. Nevertheless,
Roberts retained her ability to charm the public in a slew of hits, including Steel
Magnolias and Pretty Woman, both of which earned her Academy Award nominations.
Although it seems sometimes her
personal life garners more attention than her performances, in recent years, Roberts has
worked hard to get back on top and make peace with her fame, fortune, and inner
demons. |
