After running this site for five years, I've decided to take a break. I'm not necessarily abandoning the site, but I'm going to put some distance between me and it for now. It's been an amazing five years and I look back somewhat wistfully. When I started the site, the Internet promised to become a place where people around the world could gather and meet each other. To make a web site was akin to tossing out a little bottle with a message to a vast and shimmering sea. This site garnered a great deal of attention in those days for its style and that it was "just plain fun." It was everyone's cool-site-of-the-day when that mattered and it was featured in arts magazines and TV news shows. It was one of the first sites to feature animated gifs and later frames. But sadly the Internet has now become mostly a commercial venture. Also, when I started the site, being into Frank, Sammy and Dino was considered weird by most standards. In the last five years, a rush of young people discovered this music and it too has taken on, sadly, the auro of class. Yuppies ran to take swing dance lessons while rich kids shot second hand clothing prices through the roof. Once great little bars around the country turned in a trendy hang-outs for a new generation who for the most part did their best to drive out the old generation from having a decent place to have a coctail. On the positive side, there are so many more who appreciate this music and the kind of culture it represented as well as a massive amount of relreleases on CD. But now it's time to set this site adrift for me. The site will remain up for as long as the Internet exists and perhaps someday I'll come back and update it. Thanks for the click-thrus. Ring-a-ding-ding, mugs....
